My Song

I consider it to be one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard. Fredy Mercury´s passion and his unique voice have always touched my soul. Many times in life I have said to myself “Show must go on”. Life consists of a chain of events which, in many cases, are unpredictable. I strongly believe that, somehow, we are “creators” of our reality but sometimes life faces us to unexpected situations…
There is a powerful reason for choosing this song and it is this weird time we are living in. I connect this song with my present situation since my lifestyle has completely changed during these last months.
Being alone at home with no chances of sharing time with my friends and family was something that devastated me. Endless and lonely nights and days on my own got me really depressed and even led me to believe that my life was a hopeless mess. It has never been a characteristic of my personality to let troubles bother me much, but I must admit that I found the situation unbearable and overwhelming.
As days went by I started to observe the situation from a different perspective. I said to myself “ ok, this is a crisis and crisis mean challenges..” Wether you resist or accept the facts that you cannot change is up to you. You can be a victim if it is your wish or you can use your strength to carry on, and this is the point at which this song turns to be so motivating for me. It represents my feelings and my inner struggle, I choose to carry on, come what may…The last stanza could be the one that represents my feelings best :
The show must go on
I´ll face it with a grin
I´m never giving in
On with the show…
The Show Must Go On
Empty spaces, what are we living for?
Abandoned places, I guess we know the score, on and on
Does anybody know what we are looking for?
Another hero, another mindless crime
Behind the curtain, in the pantomime
Hold the line
Does anybody want to take it anymore?
The show must go on
The show must go on, yeah
Inside my heart is breaking
My makeup may be flaking
But my smile, still, stays on
Whatever happens, I'll leave it all to chance
Another heartache, another failed romance, on and on
Does anybody know what we are living for?
I guess I'm learning
I must be warmer now
I'll soon be turning, round the corner now
Outside the dawn is breaking
But inside in the dark I'm aching to be free
The show must go on
The show must go on
Inside my heart is breaking
My makeup may be flaking
But my smile, still, stays on
My soul is painted like the wings of butterflies
Fairy tales of yesterday, grow but never die
I can fly, my friends
The show must go on
I'll face it with a grin
I'm never giving in
On with the show

  1. Vane, I understand why you´ve chosen this song. It´s such an special one. I personally think it is possible to see humanity behind the lyrics of the song. I guess we all are standing on stage enjoyng moments and smiles but also facing hard situations and we may be tempted to give up but life must go on, the show must go on.
